Lots of talk in the news lately of what holiday destinations are best for your pocket. With the pound taking a bit of a bash against the Euro it has been stated that the likes of Turkey and Egypt make better economic sense for your holiday, bt remember it is not just the exchange rates that should be considered. So before you think of choosing elsewhere to Salou...
1. Salou is only around one and half hours from London airports. Served by low cost airline Ryaniar, flight can be found cheap, very cheap. Book ahead, search for the best fares, and check the offers from Ryanair, sign up to its newsletter.
2. When you get to Salou, you will find buses and taxi waiting at the airport, what you will not have is a two hour transfer time!, 15 mins later you can be in Salou. Shorter journies = less cost.
3. In all honesty car hire although practical if you want to explore further affield, with Salou, Cambils, La Pineda and PortAventura all pretty close to each other it is easy to use the cheap and plentiful public transport.
4. Everything is close by, beaches, theme park, cafes, bar and restaurants.
5. Many people like luxury, but if your looking to go on a budget then Salou has a wealth of budget accommodation.
6. Compared to the UK Salou's food and drink fares quite well on cost, if you want to eat on a budget you can, food to suit all tastes, good quality bars and restaurants and a good supply of local supermarkets for the self caterers.
7. PortAvntura may sem expensive, but what you get for your money makes it worth it, look for multi-day tickets, look for the discount codes, book your ticket early before you go to help spread the budget.
